The Promises We Make in This Life

Grand Mortgage came out of an unwavering commitment to a promise of being different and we'd be nothing without it. Without promises, who are we and what do we stand for? This point in history can often feel grim, so we owe it to ourselves and those around us to be unapologetically ourselves. Can't turn on the news, can't stop scrolling, can't tell what's AI and what's real, can't tell if you're getting the full story...we can only focus on what we can.

With that in mind, we've doubled down and created an ironclad set of promises to our clients, our partners, and our community, to ensure we're doing all we can to give more than we take in this life. Without these promises, our reason to be evaporates. By sharing these promises, we're accountable to more than ourselves. Without further ado, the promises...

1. We will never say no. At times we have to say not yet, but no one will ever be left to wonder what they need to do to get mortgage ready. The process of buying a home is among the most vulnerable someone will experience - you're forced to invite a team of people into the most personal parts of your life and finances to help you secure the next phase of your life. There's so much misplaced guilt and morality tied to credit scores, savings balances, and budgets that we promise to treat everyone with integrity and respect, regardless of their mortgage readiness.

2. We will be your advocate. I left the correspondent lending space because I could not understand how a W2 employee of a mortgage lender could possibly put their full advocacy behind the homebuyer. Even though the lender still pays us, we have double digit lender relationships meaning we aren't beholden to one set of opinions or underwriting guidelines. No allegiances to juggle. We work for you.

3. We will lead with communication and transparency. Things come up in the mortgage process. Whether you make $1,500 or $15,000 a month and whether your credit score is 540 or 810, lenders find things to nitpick during the approval process. As long as we communicate, we'll work together to find a solution. You'll never have to wonder what's going on or why.

4. We will be here when you need us and how you need us. More than likely, much of your home search will be outside of "normal business hours" so we just don't have them. Of course we have lives as well, but our team works together to ensure that you can get the support you need when you need it. If we're awake, we're here to help. And it doesn't matter if you need help with a monthly payment estimate, a servicing question after closing, or something totally unrelated to mortgages. We'll help if we can, and we'll point you in the right direction if we can't.

5. We will never replace human interaction with AI or a call center. If we're reaching out, it's always us. Too many industries (CERTAINLY including mortgage) are obsessive about replacing human "tasks" with automations and even robocalls. We will never...ever integrate that into our business. Buying or refinancing a home is a nervy, personal, often expensive process, and there's no substitute from getting an answer you can trust from a real person that you've spoken with on that journey. If you can't trust us, we can't serve you.

6. We will give more than we take. We will always prioritize serving communities that get left behind by bigger institutions, educating folks on things they should've been taught in schools, and giving back all that we can afford. Our community partnerships with organizations like COPAL, Read With Me MN, and Docomomo MN are investments in community that we're excited to keep making.

7. We will measure our successes on service, not sales. You don't get a mortgage because someone convinces you. You go through our process when it's time to move or free up money in your budget or access equity for a big life change. For that, you don't need a salesman and you won't find one here. Our commitment is to give you options based on the constructs we all have to live within so you can make the best decision for yourself. Never any pressure or obligations.
